Just a word of warning to anyone considering studying in Australia especially if you don’t fit the standard student model. You know of someone young and “impressionable” that can be conditioned and controlled for the future. If you are over 50, be sure to make sure you are not making a late career change. They just don’t understand and will kick your application out just for not fitting the mold. They are so fucking protectionistic of the land they fucked so hard. Lord don’t let old people study here lest they squat and suck up all of the resources for eternity! Pearl clutching colonialists.
After getting accepted into the Masters program at the Photography Studies College in Melbourne Australia, it was recommended to me by the school to leverage AMET Education (https://amet.com.au/) to take over the visa request writing for our student visa. We were told we would pay $990 AUD and receive 1/2 back upon arrival onshore. On the surface, that deal sounded pretty good, but in hindsight, this could have been instrumental in our student visa getting rejected.
I started internally questioning things after AMET sent me an invoice for around $1200. I asked the agent about the price and refund as well but he was unaware until PSC confirmed that is what they were offering to me. The agreed upon price and terms were honored and the process slowly began. And by slowly, it seemed like every inquiry took over 24 hours to complete and I was only being spoon fed the information the agent required to complete the application thus taking an inordinate amount of time.
Two weeks transpire before the visa application is finally submitted by AMET after review by their immigration attorney. As it was there job to collect the necessary information from me and transcribe a good story about us, what incentive would it be for them to do a fast and good job with the “Deal” PSC had given me for their services. And why did PSC really push for me to use their services?
Conspiracy, maybe? As long as I a try least receive my tuition and OSHC money, that was a cool $1990 AUD they profited with little effort as well as my favorite Aussie Immi in cahoots to steal another $2700 AUD from us. Bravo on the great Aussie Educational Ponzi scheme. Everyone is getting into the act.
