Since embarking my photography journey after being rejected from studying in Australia, I have decided to standardize all of my equipment on the micro 4/3 platform and traded all of my Canon EF for an OM System body and two lenses that can also be used by my Panasonic bodies. As I have decided to fully pursue nature and wildlife photography, I am no longer keeping equipment around just in case I may want to get back into the architectural or landscape genres. I have decided to fully immerse myself into nature photography with an emphasis on insects and birds.
Rule of thumb: Don’t hold onto idle equipment. Take the loss and trade it in for something you will actually use and buy used when possible. I only will hold onto vintage equipment for display as I will probably never expose or process another roll of film. The chemicals and heavy metals used are terrible and what is the sense of capturing the beauty of nature while destroying it?
