So what the fuck?
I got that out there. What is my purpose of the buying and selling of camera and computer equipment to process thousands of images primarily of animals and insects?
Art Shows?
Can I see myself buying thousands of dollars worth of prints just to sit around on weekends hoping to make my money back? WTF? I’ve done everything in my career to avoid selling.
Fine Art?
Where do I start? After getting smacked in my face by the Australian government, I may need to apologize for all of the shade I’ve sent their way. Yes I wanted to get the fuck out of here temporary and a Master’s degree would be rather superfluous, but honestly dealing with Art types may be worse than dealing with engineers, technical directors, and CTOs. At least there was some level of earning ones place in the tech industry. Seeing some of the inferior photography being peddled as “Fine Art” is frankly embarrassing. It is fine to convey “moody” using good camera and lighting techniques, really!
Commercial, HAHAHAHAHA!
This leaves me with only one option, which has been staring me in the face for the past three decades… My one and only (possibly achievable) photographic goal is to have at least one photograph published in a National Geographic magazine.
The question is what a 58 year old retired software engineer/architect must do to achieve a goal set by one’s self 35 years ago? Simply put, I have no fucking idea but to work on my nature portfolio for the next 18 months and figure it out. Maybe some crazy agent will take an old man under their wing?
